Ciavarella Oxley Estate is a small winery with a reputation for quality and varietal flavour. Establishing vineyards in 1978, Cyril and Jan Ciavarella began making wines in 1992, after initially supplying grapes to other wineries. Wines are “hand-made” in small volumes by Cyril, Jan and Tony Ciavarella. They take a very hands-on approach, doing everything from the vineyard work, winemaking, and bottling to greeting visitors. Wines include chenin blanc, sauvignon blanc, viognier, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, durif, Dolcino (a sweet red), Late Harvest Semillon Aucerot and white port. The 2002 Merlot won the inaugural Guy Darling Trophy for the best vintage wine in The Shed Wine Show. The same wine won the best wine in the professional class. Our 2006 Cabernet Sauvigon came second in the same class. It is great to see the rewards for patience and effort finally arrive. |
